In English, Giloy is referred to as “Moonseed with Heart” as well as Guduchi.
Giloy is mostly found in the Indian, Sri Lanka, and Myanmar tropical areas.
The common scientific name of Giloy is Tinospora Cordifolia.
It is interesting to note that the Sanskrit name of Giloy is “Amrita”, indicating “root of immortality”. It has long been used for its numerous benefits as a divine herb. Some of the most useful parts of the Giloy plant are the stem and roots.

Giloy’s Paan-shaped leaves are similar to those you would pass in a garden and their benefits are far-reaching. In Ayurveda, Guduchi is a rasayana (a rejuvenator) which has the power to pacify doshas – Vatta, Pitta & Kapha.
If taken with Jaggery (Gudd), it helps to balance the Pitta dosha, with Ghee, it helps to balance the Vatta dosha as well as with Honey, it helps to balance the Kapha dosha.
Giloy is filled with antioxidants that help fight free radicals, keep cells healthy and eliminate disease. Giloy also helps to get rid of toxins, purify the blood, to fight bacteria that can cause disease and also fights liver diseases as well as urinary tract infections.
It helps to fight free radicals in our body because it contains zinc and copper.
Giloy’s immunostimulant properties also help fight diseases such as syphilis and other sexually transmitted diseases.
In case you have a high fever, such as malaria or dengue fever, Giloy is very helpful in reducing your temperature. The extraction of the Guduchi plant, known as Guduchi Sattva, which is used to treat fever.
You can also take a spoon of Flukey Malt along with milk, two times daily to treat fever, flu, cough, etc.
