Every year, as soon as the month of June starts, companies begin to go all out with their ‘pride month campaigns’ so that they could reinstate their sense of liberalism in the minds of netizens. Some of which are written and designed so well, they garner all the love and eyeballs. But is that what pride month is all about? Certainly not. While spreading awareness continues to be a requisite, we should’ve crossed the next stages by now. It’s extremely important to let the LGBTQ community be vocal, for themselves, by themselves. After all, the final destination is normalising their being just as much, right?
Speaking of which, a great (or better) way of accepting and celebrating them is by supporting them; sadly, they’re still in dire need of it.
As a beauty writer, I take most pride in the fact that so many individuals from the LGBTQ community have conceptualised their love for beauty (could be hair, skin, makeup or all of them) by the means of their beauty ventures.
