Manic Monday: ‘Wind’

Weekly Fun Stuff - - Posted on July, 23 at 1:25 am

Manic Monday - WindThis week’s Manic Monday theme is ‘wind’.

When I first saw the theme this week, I thought of ‘wind’ as in ‘wind up a toy’, not as in ‘the wind is blowing’. And the first thing that came to mind was how I love to wind up my neighbour.

I’ve talked about her before on my other blog - she is Sco’ish - I call her the woman of the silent ‘T’. She an amazing, friendly and lovely lady. She loves to laugh, visit with friends and drink beer. My kind of girl!

She has a bit of a hot temper (and short fuse), and is oh-so-much fun to wind up and get going! I like to try to get her to say as many words with the letter ‘T’ in them as I can, like ‘kettle’, ‘water’, ‘Mattie’, etc. I just like to hear her pronounce them. She catches on after a bit, and then swears at me in her own way. She says things like ‘Oh France’ and ‘Oh crumbs’ and ‘Gobsmacked’. Then she calls me a ‘dozie cow’ - that one’s my fav!
She is the nicest neighbour I have ever had. When we move I’ll sure miss being able to have a beer with her on a hot afternoon and get a giggle while winding her up and watching her go!!! (hehe)

My mom was fun at bringing out people like that! Hopefully, you’ll be able to keep in touch.
I worked with a college professor from Scotland and had the most fun listening to him try to talk to Mexican people on the phone! His brogue was really thick and they just couldn’t get it! I couldn’t help but giggle as his face would get redder by the minute!
    Have a great week!!!

Gobsmacked is one of my all time favorite words. Anyone who uses it is a good egg, in my book.

A neighbor who makes you laugh is a true blessing. I hope you will be able to stay in touch even when you leave.

Winding someone up? I have never heard of that before, is it a Canadian thing?

  12. Linda on July 23rd, 2007 2:22 pm

You’ll just have to call her on the phone and wind her up long distance so that she can call you all sorts of names via the telly! I do so love a Scottish accent!

I love different accents. It seems like when people get wound up like that, their accents become even more pronounced.

    Happy MM!
